What does it take to be successful?

(Laughs) Luck! A lot of luck but again a lot of motivation, you have to hang in, you have to get rejected all over the place, but when I think of how tough it is to make it in music I think about actors or I think about people that really have it tough. What’s the old saying? In order to get a job in New York you have to be a good waiter if you’re going to make it in acting. And I fortunately never had to do that. I always managed to scrape up enough money to pay the rent by playing whatever kind of gig I could get or by teaching. But in acting or any of the other fields related to that they have to have other jobs. They have to be waiters or bankers. And now today in the computers a lot of them program computers and do that kind of stuff.
