If acquiring and nurturing your talent is important to creating good music, then marketing your talent is equally important if you wish to get paid for it. Being able to play your instrument well should be the primary goal of the aspiring musician but once you enter into the world of performing it should be to some degree a given, or at least a secondary goal at this point.
