Universal Audio: 2009 GRAMMY Award winner!
We would like to offer special congratulations to Universal Audio for receiving a GRAMMY Award in the area of Technical Achievement. This will be the second Technical GRAMMY Award associated with Universal Audio. Bill Putnam Sr., the original founder of the company, was honored posthumously in 2000 for his pioneering achievements, including the first use of artificial reverberation. Universal Audio has provided the music industry with high-quality vintage audio hardware since the 1950’s and, more recently, DSP software plug-ins for digital audio workstations.

Their flagship digital audio interface is the UAD-2 which is the successor to the revolutionary, Award-winning UAD-1 Powered Plug-Ins & DSP Card Platform. These cards offer dynamically scalable DSP power and are offered in 3 different configurations (Solo, Duo and Quad) that can be mixed and matched in any combination, up to 4 cards, to suite virtually any production situation. UA also has a UAD-2 SOLO/Laptop DSP card for musicians on-the-go. These cards are a must for any serious home recording engineer and a welcome addition to any commercial facility.
I have a 4 card UAD-1 system installed in my personal computer that I use for mixing and mastering. These are my first choice “go to” plug-ins. I can’t imagine mixing or mastering without them. The Cambridge EQ, Pultec Pro and Fairchild 670 compressor alone are worth the price of admission. The sonic quality of the internal processing is beyond expectation. In a blind listening test, one would be hard-pressed to tell which is the plug-in emulation and which is the original hardware. They are THAT believable! Kudos to Universal Audio for making the best plug-ins on the planet sound even better.

When you build your system on Universal Audio’s UAD platform, you’re building on a solid foundation. For more information go to: http://www.uaudio.com/index.html . CAUTION: Hearing the UAD in action will definitely make you want to go shopping.
